Class Assignments
You will be expected to make a 15 to 20 minute presentation (complete with outline) on one of the theoretical perspectives. After this presentation, you will co-facilitate a demonstration group with the professor using the particular theory. It will be your responsibility to contact the professor the week before with the group goals and plan.
Group Observation
You are to attend at least three group sessions as an observer or participant during the semester. Groups can be at churches, community support agencies, and educational agencies—as long as the experience gives you a group experience. After attending, you will turn in a one-page paper describing the type of group and the processes that took place.
Group
Participation
You will participate in the theory demonstration groups every week as well as a growth group for eight weeks during the semester. You will be expected to keep a journal concerning your experiences in the growth group. Although the professor will not read this journal, you must show the journal as evidence as completion of the assignment.
A final exam will be given over the Corey book at the end of the semester consisting of 60 multiple-choice questions and two essays.
