Workshop Information
I present workshops to a variety of groups including mental health professionals, church congregations and community agency workers and volunteers. My workshops are often described as “entertaining, informative and engaging” and often I get the comment, “This was the best workshop I have ever attended.”
Although I present on a variety of topics, here is a sample of some of the workshops I give regularly:
Marriage
The Essential Humility in Marriage (for mental health professionals)
A comprehensive guide to marital therapy using the frameworks of Stability, Security, and Sincerity to assess and intervene in couple relationships.
Reprogramming Your Relationship (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop focuses on helping couples find the root causes of instability in their relationships and put an end to old patterns that are the real conflict behind every conflict.
Forgiveness
Families and Forgiveness (for mental health professionals)
A comprehensive guide to train therapists to help clients do the hard work of forgiveness. Forgiveness is presented as a method of repairing love and trust in relationships through the stations of Insight, Understanding, Giving the Opportunity for Compensation, and Overt Forgiving.
Relational Restoration and Forgiveness (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop focuses on the work of forgiveness in restoring love and trust to relationships. The process is presented through the stations of Insight, Understanding, Giving the Opportunity for Compensation, and Overt Forgiving.
Relational Restoration after Infidelity (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop focuses on helping couples who have experienced an infidelity walk the difficult road of forgiveness and relational restoration.
Boomer Issues
Boomers on the Edge (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop is for Baby Boomers facing at least one of the big three challenges that confront this generation: Caring for an aging parent; Having an adult child move back home; Not having the financial resources to be able to retire.
Caring for Aging Parents
Finishing Well: Therapy with Older Adults (for mental health professionals)
A comprehensive guide for therapists to learn the processes and techniques of therapy with older adults. The process focuses on Life Validation, Life Review and Restoration Interventions.
Caring for and Loving Your Aging Parent (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop helps participants with the practical knowledge of not only how to take care of their aging parent physically but also deal with the myriad of emotional issues that are present.
Grief
Working through Grief and Loss (for lay, church or civic audiences)
This workshop helps participants focus on grief work on complicated areas and targets specific techniques that help move toward successful transition.
Certainly I can present on other or related topics so feel free to email me to discuss interests and possibilities.
Setup and Information for a Terry Hargrave Workshop
When I have been sponsored for workshops in the past, most groups ask what type of room setup I prefer. This list is intended to give you an idea of what I like in a room when I make a presentation. I do my best to provide quality training and I think that this setup works best for me. Do not worry if you cannot provide this type of setup because I can work in almost any kind of situation if participants are willing to listen. I'm very "laid-back" and anything but an obsessive-compulsive workshop leader.
Chairs set up in a theater or classroom style which allows access to the center of the room.
LCD Projector and Screen. I have my own computer that I will hook into the projector. If the room is amplified, an additional audio hookup for the computer is nice but not essential.
One large blackboard (or erasable marker board) with sturdy foundation. I really prefer not to use the tripod type if possible.
Wireless lapel microphone if the room requires sound amplification.
Small table. I do not use a podium and do not stay rooted to one spot when I teach. I need a small surface, however, to keep my notes and materials within easy reach.
Book table in the rear of the room to serve for ads, brochures, and books. I think it is helpful to have my books available at the workshop for participants to purchase if they so desire. I can bring a few books with me if requested, but it works better if you will contact my publishers directly to order books for sales. They will offer the books to you at a discount and you can return any unsold books.
Travel Expenses
I am very flexible in trying to accommodate low travel expenses. I do like a nice hotel room, but it certainly does not have to be fancy. I will work with you to try and secure the lowest possible airline ticket. I keep my receipts with me to turn in at the end of the workshop. Please let me know your reimbursement policy and time frame.
Presenter Payment
Please contact me about my workshop fee.
Cancellation Policy
I have never canceled or missed a workshop that I contracted for. If I cancel for any reason, I will reimburse you for any workshop related expenses that you cannot recoup due to the cancellation. If you cancel the workshop, there is no penalty. I only ask that you reimburse any cancellation fees that I cannot recoup from nonrefundable airline tickets.
